Smart Retail LAB
The Smart Retail LAB was a satellite event at InnovFest unBound. It was an excellent way to surface some of the issues at play and complement this discussion with an opportunity for organisations to showcase some existing technologies to assist in-store experience, rapidly prototype new ideas and test them in the field. The participants also had the opportunity to network with Singapore business leaders and unBound’s network of international C-level executives.
We saw some great ideas come forth from our 15 participating start-up teams. Four teams got the opportunity to pitch at the Retail Innovation Forum. You can check out their ideas here.
At this 24-hour hack, start-ups were encouraged to build on their existing product / service and were required to present a high=resolution prototype of their solution. Their challenge was the customise their pitch according to the real-life “LAB” environment that is Suntec City, using actual store examples and data, etc in their demonstrations.
To be eligible for the pitch at the Retail Innovation Forum, the hack would need to demonstrate close integration with the Forum content and be seen as a creative response to the challenges and issues discussed at the Forum. Four teams were selected for this pitch to an audience of senior executives.
Of the four finalist teams, Graymatics was fastracked to the Unilever Scale Up Battle finale.
Day 1 – Tuesday, 28 April
10am – Hack kick-off 11am – Retail masterclasses 1pm – Lunch 2.30pm – Mentoring sessions with industry experts 5pm – Check-ins 6pm – Urban Gathering (networking sessions, informal gathering and innovation activities at Club Street) 9pm – Submissions of presentations for Smart Retail LAB Pitch (hard deadline) 10pm – Suntec venue closes

8am – Final check-ins

Note: All participating teams are invited to continue to hang out at the LAB area (next to the Gadget Area and the Tech Runway) to exhibit and network with other conference participants.

As a Retail LAB participant, you will receive the opportunity to learn during masterclasses (starts at 11.30am) from experts in this space, receive mentoring sessions (2.30pm onwards) from experienced players with a wealth of knowledge and pitch to panel of senior-level judges.
